both asta and p6 are good tools, but i am biased as i work for safran! good write up michael.
i am sure if you wanted a longer trial anthony we could accomodate you…. and we ensure that we are affordable for the lighter user – we actually have a ‘light’ version called planner for the purpose.
safran risk is a separate tool that works with p6 with full import/export – and as you point out michael it was designed and is supported by some of the previous pertmaster team. latest generation etc….again we can organise a trial if you would like to try it!
let me know!

hi anthony, well asta is a business and deserves to make money from it’s creations. i don’t think i’ll have any influence there. but on the bright side, asta’s products are very affordable for a single user, as compared to p6 which is unaffordable. i would consider the purchase an investment in yourself and your career.

i have heard about all the above tools more especially asta power project but the issue is continuous learning with the tool is not possible with the restricted 3 weeks trial usage as compared with primavera download.
asta is a good scheduling tool also, if the trial usage is about 3 months before purchasing the license will be better.
i will urge people like you of influence in the planning and development of software for project planning to help influence and promote a long time trial period

cheers

hi tim,

i was in your session on netpoint but perhaps i didn’t fully understand the tool – lots of info that week. perhaps it would have been a good fit for this post as well. i have a followup post planned. i’ll reach out to discuss.

i’m sorry i missed you at the construction cpm conference. did you get a chance to see netpoint?

we are neither fish nor fowl but have most of the big players in the industry investing in a new way of doing interactive planning.

doug, you’ll have to research this yourself. it wouldn’t be appropriate for us to post pricing of other products on our site. i’m sure you can find this info within each products site.
