most of the project i’m working with is based on the physical % complete except for our indirect labors that their budget is based on the duration of the project.

one thing that i struggle most is that when i have a baseline schedule ink into my current schedule. every time i change my budget, the earn value will not be accurate unless you change the budget on the baseline also.

my questions is, is their a way that when i change my budget in my schedule it also change the budget on my baseline schedule?

i will appreciate very much your advised on this.

thank you,

joe

thanks i watch your details for physical progress percentage complete which, i currently in need to know in p6.a very good explaination appreciating your efforts, i request from you to know about the use of three diffrent type progress percentage complete for diffrent activities within the same program is possible or not, is their any limitation. or it can be use one type of progress percentage complete for one program.
usually we are working on the duration progress percent complete for multistoried project /mega project..now a new company( consultants) requested to provide them the report with physical progress % complete.

yes, you can do this. go into edit->bars. create a new bar called 100% complete. set the timescale to “actual bar”, set the filter to “completed” activities. then change the color of the bar in the bottom half of that screen. next, you’ll probably have to move this bar down in the bars list using the “shift down” button. move it and click apply until you see the change on the gantt.

i try to say that some body in oracle company, but there is no answer.

p.s. sorry for broken english

we prefer using physical % complete for progress monitoring, since the percentage number stay without auto changes if we modify the end dates, unlike in duration % type, but our only problems with p6 is that the remaining duration will not be calculated, the remaining duration will be equal to original duration. when you do scheduie calculation at data date, it may give a false end date. with a few hundreds or thousands activities in progress, it is not feasible to change each activity remaining duration or end date manual.
please advise is there a simpler way to do the progress monitoring every weeks within 1 or 2 days maximum. we had several projects to do each week, which we find very time-consuming and very manual. or is there another software where you can recommend to do the similar work.
thanks and best regards

in a project which all the deliverables are basically documents or inputs for another documents and this deliverables are almost always delaying, what is the best suitable method of calculating the actual progress of activities?

greetings from brazil,

andré.

did you find a solution for your problem. i am in the same boat here trying to roll-up the physical % complete to wbs and project level – similar to what microsoft project 2013 would do

its very nice to read about your above physical % completion updation in system.

while updating the physical % complete for the list of activities , it showing the % value only in activities level , not showing in wbs level and total cumulative value for the entire project.

is it posible to calculate the total physical % complete for the entire project ?

kindly advice.

jyothi
