dear mr. michael lepage,
i am having a baseline schedule of about 15,000 activities which is being updated on a weekly basis. the programme is resource loaded and cost loaded. the programme shows 65% complete. i am using the fixed duration & unit as duration type. now i have to prepare a revised schedule using the latest update of this programme. i have to resequence the remaining works. the problem i am facing is that there are many activities with remaining duration of 1 to 2 days and percent complete of 90 to 98 %. please can you advise how to increase the remaining duration of the in-progress activities without changing the percentage completion?

1. critical path way (how to make right analysis of schedule, how to decrease critical path way)
2. schedule options: about functions: total float less than or equal to, longest path and compute total float as ff=lf-ef….
3. global change ( in which way, cases we can use these functions )
4. activity usage spreadsheet: how to divide the project volume (physical work scope) day by day according to planning date. thank you for your attention.

good catch on that. it turns out that p6 behaves the same, recalculating the duration, whether you use “fixed units” or “fixed units / time”. i believe both are valid in this situation. however, i will make a note in the post on this to ensure there is no confusion.

hi michael,

in step 2 above, probably you meant that duration type should be set to ‘fixed units’?
the amount of work (or units) on the four activities is fixed and we want to crash their duration by adding more 世界杯时间比赛时间 (thereby increasing the budgeted units/time). hence, number of units/time is not fixed but total number of units are.

hani. hani, maybe i should clarify - this post was by no means a complete solution to compressing an entire schedule. just a tip for compressing a section relating to increased productivity by adding 世界杯时间比赛时间 . i would advise to do the same things you have listed here.]]>

thanks michael to your post. to add to this, acceleration or crushing the schedule has to have few steps that should be done ahead. 1. we need to identify the critical path and crush the activities on that path only. activities that are not on the critical path, reducing there duration will not be shorten the project duration, 2. find the near critical path if any, 3. conduct time cost analysis or tradoffe to see which activity shorten the project duration lower cost.
