michael, to your note regarding excel calculating calendar days only, this is not true. a very simple formula will calculate project days and is easily customised to include weekends and holidays.

the formula syntax, in your example would be, at its simplest, =networkdays(e9,f9,1) and so forth copied all the way down, which would exclude saturdays and sundays (the 1 in the formula string) – there are 16 other options in excel but most popular would be “1” to exclude sat/sun, “11” to exclude sunday only and “17” to exclude saturday only.
in addition to excluding weekends, the formula string can be extended to include a determined range of dates somewhere on your workbook which lists all public holidays also to be excluded from the calculation

one thing that would be useful to align each line item to a wbs/work-package/schedule id.
