fuse is a powerhouse app that becomes an incredible tool in your arsenal if you\u2019re doing <a href=\"\/\/www.deco-dalles.com\/course\/primavera-p6-foundations\/\">p6 scheduling<\/a> all the time and getting hammered by people who are analyzing it on the other end.<\/p>\n<p>so, i\u2019m going to teach you how to get the best use out of acumen fuse.<\/p>\n<p>in this post, we are talking about how to use acumen fuse for analyzing relationships.<\/p>\n<p>how do we analyze the <a href=\"\/\/www.deco-dalles.com\/dcma-14-point-schedule-assessment\/\">logic of a primavera p6 schedule<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">was it built well? what went wrong? too many start-to-start relationships?<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"acumen fuse - 2 video\" the <u><a href=\"\/\/www.deco-dalles.com\/deltek-acumen-fuse-schedule-check\/\">cockpit of a 747<\/a><\/u>. there\u2019s lots of stuff coming at you and you wonder how do you make it take off?<\/p>\n<p>so same thing here \u2013 now once again we\u2019ve seen this kind of ribbon analyzer screen before in our <a href=\"\/\/www.deco-dalles.com\/deltek-acumen-fuse-schedule-check\/\">previous post<\/a>. but, let me just remind you how this works.<\/p>\n<p>so, here\u2019s my project and the timeline of the project and it\u2019s broken into these quarters and years.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-53836 size-large\" milestones, where critical activities are happening, what\u2019s going on and i can also look into all the analysis for that particular slice of the project right here.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/p>\n<p>and now let\u2019s say i did want to dig in more deeply into \u201css predecessors\u201d \u2013 show me activities that have a start-to-start predecessors. i can click on the header and 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>now this is cool \u2013 i can quickly dig in and find all the activities that have start-to-start relationships. i may want to scrutinize those.<\/p>\n<p>i can do the same here with finish-to-finish predecessors. so quickly finding all the activities that have that kind of relationship.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>now taking this even a step further because there\u2019s a lot of options in deltek acumen fuse. what i can do is i can actually undock this window to reveal more details. click \u201cundock\u201d tab up on the right-hand corner of the screen.<\/p>\n<p><img 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>so, analyzing my relationships is very easy.<\/h4>\n<p>one of the things i love to analyze is <a href=\"\/\/www.deco-dalles.com\/find-relationship-lag-primavera-p6\/\">lags and leads<\/a>, but i am not seeing any in the \u201cproject snapshot\u201d window.<\/p>\n<p>that\u2019s not in this window but have a look in the bottom bar and you\u2019ll find a tab for \u201clags\u201d. now let\u2019s hit \u201cfuse\u201d in the top bar. you hit \u201cfuse\u201d to calculate metrics and display three lags and you can see them expanded in the bottom right window. i can see leads, hidden duration, and other interesting metrics. i can also see the number of activities that contain a href=\"\/\/www.deco-dalles.com\/project-scheduling-glossary\/\">hidden duration<\/a><\/u> is the number of activities that contain a lag that is bigger than 35% of its original duration. so here am i burying duration in lags by having very large lags? interesting!<\/p>\n<p>there&#8217;s lots to explore here and this is how we can use the diagnostic screen to dig into all my logic issues.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>now there\u2019s a little bit more \u2013 another screen that we want to explore here. and that is the \u201cs2 \/\/ logic\u201d screen at the top.<\/p>\n<p><img slicing and dicing, but it\u2019s a little bit simpler to use \u2013 in my opinion.<\/p>\n<p>this reminds me of an application that i used before called <u><a href=\"\/\/www.deco-dalles.com\/compare-xer-files-change-inspector\/\">change inspector<\/a><\/u> and this is change inspector on steroids!<\/p>\n<p>for example, we can quickly click in the top bar \u201cstart to start\u201d and see all the start-to-start activities listed here. its very quick and very easy to do. we can also click the \u201copen ends\u201d tab to find all the open-ended \u201cpublish\u201d in the top bar and choose <u><a href=\"\/\/www.deco-dalles.com\/track-construction-delays-free-log-tracker\/\">excel<\/a><\/u> \u2013 send it out, hold on to it, and even do some digging in p6 to fix those issues. or crank it out into excel and put it into a report as part of my narrative for example of analysis.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" something called \u201clogic sensitivity\u201d in the top bar of the \u201cs2 \/\/ logic\u201d tab, which i found interesting.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>it is a way for us to run a little diagnostic on how sensitive my project is to delays. so, for example here in the \u201csettings\u201d window, if i nudge an activity and i selected a random activity and if i nudge it up to 50 days, and i want to see the result of this nudge on the shown finish milestone. i run the analysis and as i do that, and again this is a fairly random example here, but you can see that 5 days of nudge starts to cause a delay.<\/p>\n<p>you can see how increasing and nudging activities more and more is causing more
